Lagging Rabi Pulse Seeding Supports Pulses

VANCOUVER - Dec 15/12 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week on a generally firm note, gaining psychological support from indications rabi season pulse area will be likely be down from last year.

It seems less likely that rabi, or winter season pulse area in India will rise above last year, though it could end up close to the recent average.

Regional weather conditions combined with an emphasis on other crops in some areas to widen the gap between this and last year's seeding progress from 449,000 hectares to 847,000.
