Peas Maintain Firm Tone

VANCOUVER - Oct 12/12 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, reflecting the combined impact of a slow down in grower deliveries and the strength of the Canadian dollar.

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports that farmers only sold 24,700 metric tons (MT) of peas to primary elevators the first week of October.

Though up from the previous week, it is down sharply from the weekly average of 64,840 MT so far this marketing year and 64,990 during the same period last year.
