France Pea Export Pace Remains Slow

VANCOUVER - Oct 9/12 - SNS -- The pace of field pea exports from France remained slow through August, with shipments up from August's revised total but down sharply from last year, according to the latest data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments in August totalled 12,015 metric tons (MT), up from the 8,115 shipped in July, but well below the 42,780 MT shipped the same month last year. This lifts export shipments so far this marketing year to 20,130 MT, down 64% from the same period last season.

Europe destinations remained the most important during the month, though a parcel of human consumption peas was shipped to Egypt.
