Little Harvest Selling Pressure

VANCOUVER - Aug 18/12 - SNS -- North American field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, with grower bids holding steady despite improved availability of new crop product in western Canada and the United States.

The week started with 22% of the Canadian crop in the bin. At average yields, that represents about 690,000 metric tons (MT) of product.

Farmers have been fairly active sellers so far this marketing year, taking advantage of strong bids to clear bins for the harvest and to deliver some new crop product.
