Field Peas Remain FirmVANCOUVER - May 25/12 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week on a firm tone, helped by tight supplies on spot markets and buying interest from the Indian subcontinent. Markets in the United States got an additional boost from the latest USDA PL-480 food aid tender, which is seeking 2,250 MT of split yellow and 1,840 MT of split green peas for shipment from origin shipping points in July. Seeding of this year's crop is mostly complete in the United States and nearing completion in Saskatchewan, making processors and exporters more confident about adding to new crop sales positions.
