Underlying Anxiety in Markets

VANCOUVER - May 19/12 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading little changed, but with underlying anxiety about future price prospects because of increased volatility in commodity markets.

The problems stem from the ongoing Euro-zone and Greek debt crisis, with some buyers believing that will result in lower base trading levels for field peas and other commodities.

Since pea production in Europe is smaller than in North America and Australia, any impact is likely to be indirect.
