USDA Buys for 210 MT PulsesKANSAS CITY - May 16/12 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 210 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment as food aid. In announcing the tender results, the USDA said, offers for 120 MT of dark red kidney beans were "rejected due to a change in program requirements". Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 200001018 the USDA is buying pulses packed in 50 kg bags. In releasing the tender invitation, the USDA said, "Peas and Lentils Section 1.1 C has been added to Commodity Requirements Document PL6 as follows: Yellow peas may grade U.S. No 3 based on damage (other than weevil-damage or heat damage)."
