Sask Doubts All Land Will Be Seeded

VANCOUVER - May 10/12 - SNS -- Saskatchewan farmers started the week believing that they will not be able to plant a significant portion what they planned because soils may not be dry enough.

In its latest crop report, the provincial agriculture department said farmers in southeastern Saskatchewan thought they would not be able to seed 9% of their land, compared to 2% in the southwest, 8% in east central crop districts, 4% in the west central region, and 3% in the northeast.

How close these thoughts are to the actual difference between intended and final seeded area for all crops depends on whether conditions remain sunny and warm through the end of the month.
