Pea Export Movement Eased in April

VANCOUVER - May 4/12 - SNS -- Bulk conventional exports of pulses and other specialty crops from Canada declined in April, dropping below both month and year earlier levels.

During the month, exporters loaded three ships at Vancouver with 98,607 metric tons (MT) of peas; while exporters loaded 5,166 MT of canaryseed and 11,028 MT of lentils on other vessels.

Looking forward, movement might be down from last year in May. So far, exporters have nominated five vessels to lift 123,790 MT of peas from Vancouver this month; and an unspecified quantity of canary and mustard seed from Thunder Bay. Last year, five ships loaded 199,061 MT of peas and 5,727 MT of lentils.
