Higher Than Expected Bean IntentionsVANCOUVER - Mar 31/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean seedings in the United States will rise 38% is farmers stick with the seeding intentions reported to the USDA this year. This year's intentions are higher than expected, but fell short of the potential increase suggested by a this season's price and movement performance. In reported results of its seeding intentions survey, the USDA noted, "Despite continued strong prices and demand, competition from other crops has limited planted area." The USDA said planted area is expected to be higher in 13 of the 18 States in the dry bean estimating program. In the top five producing States (Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, and North Dakota), planted area is expected to be up from last season.
