French Pea Sales Slow In December
VANCOUVER - Feb 14/12 - SNS -- French field pea export movement slowed considerably in December, dropping below both year and month earlier levels, according to the latest data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).
Exports during the month totalled 11,950 metric tons (MT), down from the 14,600 MT shipped in November, and down from the 15,335 MT of field peas exported the same month the previous year.
This lifts field pea exports so far during the 2011-12 marketing year to 151,225 MT, versus 192,630 MT during the same period last season. Almost 54% of the peas expected to be shipped from France this season moved in the July through December period, similar to the pace of movement during the same period last season.
