Pea Export Movement Sinks in January

VANCOUVER - Feb 3/12 - SNS -- Bulk conventional exports of pulses and other specialty crops from Canada sank to their lowest level since April of 2010, with total shipments plunging 86% from both the previous month and the same month last year.

During the month, exporters loaded two ships at Vancouver with 32,713 metric tons (MT) of peas; and no vessels with other specialty crops.

Looking forward, movement will likely remain down from last year in February. So far, exporters have nominated one vessels to lift peas and one vessel to lift lentils from Vancouver this month.
