Little Change in Pea Markets

VANCOUVER - Jan 28/12 - SNS -- Field pea markets were mostly unchanged in light trading interest during the past week.

Demand continues to be affected by tight supplies and high asking prices from most export origins, despite expectations of a slowdown in demand from the Indian subcontinent.

During the first third of Canada's 2011-12 marketing year, field pea exports to the Indian subcontinent were down roughly 300,000 metric tons (MT) at 578,000, while shipments to China were up 170,000 at 310,000 MT.
