Light Trade Quiets Pea Markets

VANCOUVER - Jan 20/12 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week little changed in light end user and origin trading interest.

Most northern hemisphere field pea exporters are faced with a tight supply situation after last year's production fell below the normal needs of the market.

Low prices relative to other crops which are competing for land use and rising production levels in India were the primary reasons farmers became disenchanted with the crop.
