Firm Finish For World Beans

VANCOUVER - Dec 17/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week on a relatively firm note, with colored beans supported by news Mexico will open import quotas for product from countries other than Canada and the United States.

The move was stimulated by short crops across North America, which have resulted in regionally bullish markets for all classes of beans.

The decision will see import quota made available for up to 100,000 metric tons (MT) of product, with companies with a prior history of obtaining import quota being asked to bid for quota allocation.
