French Pea Exports Maintain Normal Pace

VANCOUVER - Nov 9/11 - SNS -- French field pea export movement maintained its seasonal strength through September, rising above year earlier levels, though falling short of the quantity shipped in August, according to the latest data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Exports during the month totalled 32,201 metric tons (MT), down from the 42,795 MT shipped in August, but up from the 30,435 MT of field peas exported the same month the previous year.

This lifts field pea exports so far during the 2011-12 marketing year to 91,840 MT, versus 125,700 MT during the same period last season. A third of the peas expected to be shipped from France this season moved during the opening quarter of the marketing year, down two points from this point last season.
