Firmed Finish in N.A. Edible Beans

VANCOUVER - Dec 3/10 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a slightly firmer note, with market demand inching just ahead of offers from processors and growers.

The Canadian harvest was roughly 30,000 metric tons (MT) larger than last year at 253,800 MT on account of increased navy bean production.

Farmers do not believe edible beans are keeping pace with soybeans, however, suggesting next year's acreage could be down sharply.
