Demand Props Peas
VANCOUVER - Oct 29/10 - SNS -- North American field pea markets maintained their firm tone against good export movement from Canada and ongoing PL-480 food aid demand from the U.S. government.
Canadian exporters are in the midst of shipping roughly 189,000 metric tons (MT) of peas through Vancouver after already shipping 730,000 MT of bulk peas through licensed terminals in Vancouver and Churchill. This is the strongest fall shipping program on record for the commodity in Canada.
In the United States, food aid demand is up around 5,000 MT from last year for movement from origin through the end of December.
