Short Term Factors Pull Peas

VANCOUVER - Oct 23/10 - SNS -- Short term demand factors continued to dominate thinking in field pea markets through the past week, with the result potentially bearish developments in India had little impact.

That country boosted minimum support prices (MSP) for pulses grown in the winter or rabi season by around 20%.

In combination with the late departure of this year's monsoon, the decision is seen as inspiring farmers to seed more desi type chickpeas, red lentils and other rabi season pulses.
