September Pea Shipments Surge

VANCOUVER - Oct 20/10 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 291,300 metric tons (MT) field pea were exported through licensed terminal facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in September. The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are up from the 133,400 MT shipped the same month last year and up from the 240,200 MT shipped the previous month.

So far during the 2010-11 marketing year, the CGC says Canada has exported 531,500 T of peas through licensed terminals, compared to 238,400 During the same two-month period last year. So far this calendar year, pea exports total 1,416,000 MT, versus 1,320,300 last year. Field pea exports during the full 2009 calendar year were 1,726,800 MT, up from 1,449,200 in 2008.
