Record Start For Pea Exports

VANCOUVER - Oct 1/10 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exporters maintained their record setting pace through September, with export clearances for the first quarter of the 2010-11 marketing year likely to set a new record for the August through October period.

Movement in September fell off the pace because several nominated ships were not loaded during the month and slid into the October.

Even so, the quantity of peas loaded through bulk terminals in August and September beat the previous high by roughly 119,000 metric tons (MT), with over half a million tons of peas shipped the first two months of the marketing year.
