Quiet Week In Beans Outside India

PANAMA - Dec 30/22 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were in holiday mode during the past week, with the result there were substantial changes in values or trading volumes.

As a result, the U.S. dry edible bean price index was unchanged on the week to close at 100.5. By contrast, the global pulse price index slipped 0.1 points to close at 101.2 while the Canadian index was unchanged at 102.8.

Exporters in parts of Africa and Asia remain increasingly hopeful of improved import demand from India because of reports the initial quality of this year's tur or pigeon peas harvest is below normal. Quality and yields appear to have been affected by heavier than usual rainfall events late in the growing season for the crop.
