WASHINGTON - Aug 12/22 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed is forecast at 33.7 million tons, up 3% from 2021, according to the latest USDA production estimate.
Producers intend to harvest 919,300 acres for sugar and seed during the 2022 crop year, down 2% from 2021. Yields for sugar and seed are expected to average 36.6 tons per acre, up 1.5 tons from 2021.
