Canadian Domestic Pea Usage Rising

PANAMA - Feb 12/21 - SNS -- Field pea markets are taking notice of unusually strong demand for new crop feed ingredients by China.

Exporters in Canada and France report heavy sales of new crop barley to China's livestock feed industry, with movement in August through October from both countries expected to reach at least two million MT, with some participants suggesting another million metric tons (MT) of optional original product could be bought.

Rebuilding of China's hog herd and high prices for locally grown ingredients are seen as key reasons for increased import demand. This is fueling optimism Canadian peas could once again see strong opening season movement into China's livestock feed sector.
