Canadian Domestic Pea Usage Rising
PANAMA - Feb 5/21 - SNS -- International field pea markets did not react to Canada's December 31 stocks in all positions estimates for field pea.
Statistics Canada pegged all stocks at 2.565 million metric tons (MT), down from 2.66 million a year earlier. Stocks on farms were pegged at 2.205 million, down from 2.399 million in 2019, while commercial inventories jumped from 261,000 to 360,000 MT.
Markets were surprised by the inferred domestic disappearance number, which jumped from around 148,000 between August and December of 2019 to just under 397,000 during the first five months of the current marketing campaign.
