Dry Beans May Face Marketing Challenge
PANAMA - Oct 9/20 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading little changed despite a significant increase in this year's seeded area and production estimate for the crop in the United States.
The latest USDA crop report suggests total area in beans in the United States jumped from 1.339 million acres last year to 1.81 million.
Production in states included in its analysis is expected to jump from 944,000 to 1.587 million metric tons (MT), suggesting total U.S. production is likely closer to 1.648 million MT after accounting for states that are now excluded because from the report.
