South Africa Cuts Bean Forecast

PRETORIA - Apr 25/18 - SNS -- Dry edible bean seeded area and production prospects were reduced in the second production estimate from the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

Seeded area was reduced from 56,600 to 53,360 hectares, while land in other field crops was revised upward. Corn plantings increased modestly from 2.303 million to 2.319 million.

Sunflower plantings advanced from an initial estimate of 584,900 to 601,500 hectares; while soybeans rose from 775,300 to 787,200; ground nuts was unchanged at 56,300 hectares; and sorghum rose from 24,800 to 28,800 hectares.
