USDA Grain Crushings Report

WASHINGTON - May 1/15 - SNS -- Total corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was 493.0 million bushels in March 2015, according to the USDA.

Total corn consumption was up 11% from February 2015 but down 1% from January 2015. March usage included 91.0% for alcohol and 9.0% for other purposes.

Corn for beverage alcohol totaled 2.46 million bushels, down 9% from February but up 18% from January.

Corn for fuel alcohol, at 439.7 million bushels, was up 11% from February but down 1% from January. Corn consumed in March 2015 for dry milling fuel production and wet milling fuel production was 89.5% and 10.5% respectively.

Corn used for purposes other than fuel production totaled 44.3 million bushels, up 18% from February and up 2% from January.

Dry mill co-product production of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) was 1.81 million tons during March 2015, up 10% from February 2015 but down 3% from January 2015. Distillers wet grains (DWG) 65% or more moisture was 1.26 million tons in March 2015, up 10% from February 2015 but down 6% from January 2015.

Wet mill corn gluten feed production was 331.5 thousand tons during March 2015, up 17% from February 2015 and up 3% from January 2015. Wet corn gluten feed 40 to 60% moisture was 308.4 thousand tons in March 2015, up 12% from February 2015 but down 2% from January 2015.
