French Pea Exports Steady
VANCOUVER - Mar 13/15 - SNS -- There was little month over month change in the quantity of field peas exported from France in January, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).
Export shipments during the month totalled 13,700 metric tons (MT), up 3% from the 13,265 MT shipped the previous month, but down 14% from the 15,940 MT shipped the same month last year. Shipments so far this season are down 39% at 72,485 MT.
Most peas were shipped to European destinations, with Belgium the most important, followed by Switzerland and Denmark. No field pea shipments were reported to Egypt or the Indian subcontinent.
