Upward Trend in Turkey's Net Imports

VANCOUVER - Mar 11/15 - SNS -- Turkey's trade deficit in pulses has been trending upward in recent years, reflecting a shift in production from that country to net export producers such as Canada, Australia and Argentina.

For the 2014 calendar year, net pulse imports jumped to a record 211,000 metric tons (MT), according to data published in the platinum version of STAT.

Total pulse imports during 2014 reached 450,032 (MT), compared to 327,925 the previous year and well above the previous five-year average of almost 288,000 MT.
