Dry Beans Remain Firm

VANCOUVER - Sep 14/13 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note against reports of steady, but limited business to countries bordering the Mediterranean.

Even so, North American markets were unsettled, with prices for some classes easing, even as white bean markets remained strong. This was reflected in U.S. spot index for dry edible beans, which slipped five points on the week to finish at 1573.

The grower price index eased three points at finish at 1455, representing 81.5% of the value of inter-dealer markets. This is down from last season's average of 82.7%, but above the 10-year average of 80.8%.
