World Bean Markets Remain Firm

VANCOUVER - Sep 7/13 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by relatively high asking prices for Chinese and other origin product.

The strength was reflected in U.S. spot index for dry edible beans, which gained three points on the week to finish at 1599. Grower bids in the United States were also firmer on the week.

The grower price index gaining 10 points at finish at 1458, representing 81.5% of the value of inter-dealer markets. This is down from last season's average of 83.61%, but above the 10-year average of 80.8%.
