Eyes on China's Bean Crops

VANCOUVER - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone in light trade through the past week.

Market attention is clearly focused on China, where unusual weather conditions are damaging crops. The key issue appears to be heavy rainfall in the northern province of Heilongjiang, where flooding has affected over one million hectares of all crops.

Some traders believe crops on over 40% of that land could be lost. This includes corn, soybeans, wheat, edible beans and other crops.
