Beans Firm in Limited Trade

VANCOUVER - Aug 17/13 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone despite limited trading interest.

Confirmation that dry edible bean plantings in the United States were smaller than initially expected helped giver North American markets a firm tone.

The USDA also said conditions to date suggest yields will be lower on average than last year and that a higher proportion of this year's seeded area will be abandoned before harvest. The net result is production could be down 23% at 1.116 million metric tons (MT).
