Myanmar's Pulse Exports Slow

WASHINGTON - Nov 30/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean and other pulse exports from Myanmar eased in August and September, with shipments during the two months sinking from over 306,000 metric tons (MT) last year to just over 150,000 MT this year.

Export clearances in September were down 49% from the same month last year as lower wholesale prices of peas and beans discouraged business.

Of all the pulses shipped in September, 61% or 43,384 MT went to India, while Singapore took 24% or 18,926 MT of the pulses exported and China took 7% or 5,516 MT. Year–to-date exports for 2012 are 856,013 MT, 33% greater than last year's 645,915 MT.
