Mexican Demand Supports Beans

VANCOUVER - Feb 4/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against renewed buying by Mexican importer and fill-in buying by exporters.

This contributed to a generally firmer finish for U.S. origin beans, with the spot market index finishing the week up 27 points at 1798.

Good movement and strong prices will help pull land back into dry edible beans this spring, with seeded area in Canada and the United State expected to come in around two million acres this spring, with the potential for a larger increase.
