Bean Markets Strengthen on Production Worries

VANCOUVER - Aug 19/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note, helped by tighten stocks in major export origins other than China and fears Mexico's spring and summer crop will be much smaller than expected.

This helped lift the spot market index for U.S. origin beans to a new record high, with the index rising 20 points on the week to finish at 1508.

Meanwhile, the index for grower bids jumped 33 points on the week to finish at a new record high of 1376 points.
