Beans Generally Firm

VANCOUVER - Jul 15/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a generally firm note against limited selling interest from most origins.

This is reflected in the spot market index for dry edible beans in the United States. It was up one point points on the week at 1401, keeping it at the upper end of its historic range, and not far from its record high of 1467, set in September of 2008. Meanwhile, the index for grower bids was up 15 points at 1188.

More importantly, interest in securing product seemed to be rising, with buyers in Brazil and Algeria showing interest in buying from Argentina and other origins.
