Neans Still Uncertain Over Seeded Area

VANCOUVER - Jul 8/11 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets finished the week little changed under relatively quiet trading conditions.

Markets remain uncertain about actual seeded area for many classes of beans, mainly because North Dakota farmers were unable to finish seeding all crops this year because of wet fields and localized flooding.

This is reflected in the spot market index for dry edible beans in the United States. Though it was down two points on the week at 1400, it is at the upper end of its historic range, and not far from its record high of 1467, set in September of 2008.
