Markets Question U.S. Bean Numbers

VANCOUVER - Jul 2/11 - SNS -- As surprised as dry edible bean markets were by the collapse in dry edible bean seedings in Canada, they were surprised by the lack of movement in actual and intended seedings in the United States.

Prices for several classes of edible beans recorded unusually strong performances during the past week against the belief that not all beans farmers intend to plant will be planted in North Dakota.

That is the largest edible bean producing in Canada or the United States, with the result production problems there set the tone for the major classes of beans grown each year.
