Edible Beans Mixed On Week

VANCOUVER - Mar 25/11 - SNS -- North American edible bean markets registered a mixed performance during the week, with bids to growers easing even as there was a general improvement in inter-dealer market values.

This was reflected in the spot market index for dry edible beans in the United States, which rose eleven points on the week to finish at 1197. Meanwhile, the index for grower bids sank 30 points to finish at 1026.

It may be that markets feel confident they had reached levels which will persuade core growers to remain with beans instead of switching to corn, wheat or soybeans.
