Mixed Week For Edible Beans

VANCOUVER - Mar 18/11 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week on a mixed note, with Chinese exporters becoming slightly more aggressive in efforts to move last year's crop.

By contrast, North American markets remain firm, supported by cross commodity competition for grower interest and ongoing demand from Mexico.

This was reflected in the spot market index for dry edible beans in the United States, which rose seven points on the week to finish at 1186. Meanwhile, the index for grower bids gained two points to finish at 1056.
