Myanmar Starts 2011 Export Season on Good Note

VANCOUVER - Feb 14/11 - SNS -- Pulse exports from Myanmar started the 2011 calendar year on a stronger note than last year, with total shipments hitting 81,145 metric tons (MT), up almost 17,000 MT from the same month last year, but down sharply from the 117,453 MT shipped in December.

Matpe (black gram) accounted for 52% of the total exports, followed by Toor whole (pigeon pea) 28% and Mung bean (green gram) 18%.

India and China were the largest buyers accounting for 59,512 MT or 73% and 9,456 MT or 12% of total exports respectively.
