Peas Hold Steady In Tight Future

PANAMA - Mar 22/24 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week on a steady note, with offers from growers remaining in rough balance with the short term needs of processors and exporters.

This month's seeding intentions report for Canada failed to surprise markets, with area showing a modest increase from 3.05 to 3.12 million acres. The number was not expected to show much change from last year.

Bids to farmers since the survey period have not changed significantly, suggesting that unless land is pulled away by other crops, actual plantings will be close to Statistics Canada's forecast intentions.
