Worrisome Moments in Dry Beans

PANAMA - Sep 25/20 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were mixed in relatively light trading during the past week, while markets for other pulses firmed because of relatively strong opening season movement.

Forecasts India will harvest the second largest kharif season pulse crop in history and that fact this year's harvest is already 28.3% complete was a concern for markets for some classes of beans, contributing to the mixed tone.

This was reflected in the spot index for dry edible beans in the United States, which lost 0.7 points on the week to close at 72.4 as this year's harvest gains pace.
