Edible Beans Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - Jan 19/20 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by general strength in pulse markets and worries about whether there will be enough good quality product to meet prospective demand.

This was reflected in inter-dealer markets in the United States, with the result its spot index for dry edible beans advanced 1.3 points on the week to close at 142.9.

The Canadian pulse prices index advanced 0.5 points on the week to close at 142.2, while the global index managed a 2.6 point gain to finish at 150.1, helped by strength in Australian markets because of reduced yields.
