Final SAF Bean Estimate Unchanged

PRETORIA - Oct 27/17 - SNS -- Farmers in South Africa intend to substantially increase land in dry edible beans during the country's summer cropping season, according to the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

If farmers stick with their intentions, seeded area will jump from 45,050 to 60,000 hectares. If yield are at their recent five year average, production will jump from 68,525 to 78,600 metric ton (MT).

South Africa will remain an importer of dry edible beans in the coming year, but the quantities needed should decline from this year's estimated 60,000 to around 50,000 MT.
