Slow Bean Movement in Canada

PANAMA - Sep 25/16 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) said 300 MT of bulk dry edible beans were exported through reporting terminals and primary elevators between September 12 and 18. Season to date exports total 2,800 MT, compared to 2,100 MT during the previous marketing year.

Farmers delivered 5,100 MT of dry edible beans to primary elevators during the week. This lifts season to date deliveries by farmers to 11,400 MT, compared to 18,400 MT during the same period last season.

Elevators and terminals reported selling 600 MT of dry edible beans to domestic buyers during the week. Season to date sales now total 3,200 MT, compared to 1,800 during the same period last season.

There are 26,200 MT of commercial stocks of dry edible beans, including: 26,200 MT in primary elevators; and none in port positions. There are no beans in transit by rail to Canadian ports, compared to none the previous week.

For dry edible beans in primary elevators: 24,800 MT are located in Manitoba; 700 MT in Saskatchewan; and 700 MT in Alberta.
