Less Beans, Better Price Trend

DALIAN - Sep 2/16 - SNS -- International dry edible bean production will be down across the 2015-16 production cycle.

At the same time, the price performance of dry edible beans on international markets has improved significantly versus other pulses, as values for peas and lentils decline, and beans and chickpeas remain firm with an upward tendency.

Commenting on the situation at this year's China Pulse Import and Export Industry Conference here, STAT's Brian Clancey said that to the extent the spread between dry beans and other pulses widens in favor of beans, seeded area in 2017 would be expected to increase in areas where farmers have a choice between which pulses they plant.
