WASHINGTON - Aug 12/16 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2015 is forecast at 32.1 million tons, up 6% from last year, according to the USDA's latest estimate for the crop.
Producers intend to harvest 894,700 acres for sugar and seed during the 2015 crop year, up 24,400 acres from last year. Expected yield for sugar and seed is forecast at 35.9 tons per acre, up 0.9 ton from 2014.
